Pickwicks Cottage is situated in the peaceful hamlet of Ecorsaint (approx 45 minutes west of Dijon) in the heart of the burgundian countryside. There are no shops or cafes in the hamlet but both are just a 10 minute drive away. Pickwicks Cottage has been renovated from an old stone barn and sleeps two people very comfortably. It shares magnificent views and a swimming pool with two independent, private villas. The Farmhouse (sleeps 2-4) and L’Ecurie (sleeps 8). All 3 properties can be rented individually or as one unit sleeping up to 14 people.
The front door opens in to the double aspect kitchen/sitting room. This cosy and comfortable room has a window which opens on to the terrace at the back of the cottage. The kitchen is well equipped and has two double work units, a gas cooker with extractor fan, fridge and microwave. There is a sofa and armchair. For the chillier evenings or winter bookings, a woodburning stove heats the cottage to provide a lovely, cosy home from home!
Off the sitting room area through either one of two small arches, are the stairs to the beamed bedroom and bathroom. The upstairs bedroom stretches the length of the cottage and has views to the front, side and back of the cottage. It is furnished with a double bed, clothes hanging and storage space. The large downstairs bathroom situated on the other side of the stairs has a bath and wonderful open shower. The washing machine is housed in the bathroom.
The terrace is a wonderful suntrap with views over the garden and fields with a wall separating the cottage from the rest of the garden. Garden furniture is provided. Attached to the side of the cottage is the old village bread oven. The lane behind the cottage leads up the hill to endless glorious countryside and walks.
For the summer months the swimming pool is shared with the Farmhouse and L’Ecurie. It is set away from all the houses (50 metres) and therefore provides a reasonable amount of privacy for guests. The pool is regularly maintained, cleaned and has an efficient heating system regulating the temperature at 26°C. The poolhouse has changing rooms and an undercover eating area (complete with small fridge and sink). There is also a WC, shower, changing area and a line for drying wet towels and bathing costumes. Poolside furniture is provided. Swimming towels are not provided.
Prices are per week and include linen (beds are made up( and towels (swimming towels are not provided) and all other charges.
